MTN Internet Bus-Mobile ICT Training in Schools
In a quest for the creation of a bold, new Digital World and its commitment to supporting education as a key enabler of development, the MTN Foundation introduced the first-ever MTN Internet Bus initiative. The initiative is aimed at bridging the digital divide between rural and urban communities provides real time ICT training for leaners, teachers and various community members in hard to reach places across Uganda. To date more than 45,000 learners and teachers have benefitted from this project through computer and Internet education.
MTN ICT Resource Centres
The MTN Foundation has partnered with various entities including learning institutions, public Libraries and other selected community institutions e.g. prisons and community centres in setting up fully connected ICT Resource Centres across Uganda. Some of the ICT Resource Centres setup include; the Kampala Capital City Authority, Mbale, Masaka and Kabarole Public Libraries, Murchison Bay Prison and Mukono Community and 16 additional resource centres located in institutions of learning including Kawotto Primary School, Uganda Technical College Kichwamba, National Teachers College Muni, Uganda Technical College Lira, Hornby Secondary School Kabale, Shimoni Core Primary Teachers College and Busoga High School. The MTN Foundation has also donated computers and internet connectivity to primary schools through the “ICT Clubs for Primary School” initiative. The project which has been piloted in Kampala has seen beneficiaries, Bat Valley Primary School, Buganda Road Primary School, Kiswa Primary School, Kitante Primary School and Nakasero Primary School.
MTN-FAWE Scholarships for Girls in STEM
Following a successful pilot university scholarship program aimed at supporting disadvantaged girls acquire professional ICT education enabling more women participation in the ICT sector, the MTN Foundation introduced the UGX312m 2016 MTN Foundation University Scholarship program for girls. In the partnership with the Forum for African Women Educationalists Uganda (FAWEU), the program will provide full support including tuition, accommodation, meals, scholastic materials and mentorship for 10 girls through University.
MTN-PEAS Infrastructure Project
To create more space for the ever-increasing number of primary school leavers, PEAS entered a partnership with MTN Uganda Foundation. The partnership saw MTN donate Shs735m for classroom construction in 2017, thereby creating 720 additional school places for needy students. By July 2019, MTN Uganda Foundation has so far invested 1.3billion shillings to construct and furnish classroom blocks in 6 schools under PEAS across the country. This project saw the construction of classroom blocks in 10 schools run by PEAS located in Amuria, Kabarole, Katakwi, Ibanda, Lamwo, Mayuge, Mpigi and Wakiso districts.

- Apeulai PEAS HS, Amuria, – 3 Classroom block and sanitary facilities
- Noble PEAS HS, Ibanda – 3 Classroom block and sanitary facilities
- Aspire PEAS HS, Ibanda – 3 Classroom block and sanitary facilities
- Onwards and Upwards SS, Wakiso – 3 Classroom block.
MTN-ENABEL ICT PROJECT
In this partnership MTN Foundation has supported set up of 3 computer labs in Amelo Technical Institute-Adjumani, St Simon Peter VTI-Hoima, St Daniels Comboni-Moroto and Ngabo Academy of Science and development-Mbarara. The project aims at improving knowledge sharing and learning for vocation institutes.
MTN-SOS Project
Through a partnership with the SOS children’s villages located in Gulu, Fort Portal, Kakiiri and Entebbe, the Foundation supported over 3,600 children with food stuffs and scholastic materials. The program supports 20 public primary schools in the communities where the children villages are located.
Other Education initiatives include the refurbishment of Gulu Prisons Primary School, Akaba Primary school in Nebbi and Kashuro Primary school in Mbarara.

- Constrict of Girls Dormitory at Loreng P.S in Nakapiripirit-girls are currently using classrooms as makeshift dormitory
